What is The NOW Coalition for Bipolar Disorder?

The NOW Coalition for Bipolar Disorder is a multi-organizational educational initiative that consists of interconnected learning modules of varying formats. Through collaborations, practice-oriented delivery channels, and outcomes measurement platforms and processes, The NOW Coalition plans to reach thousands of relevant health care professionals in the states of Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The overarching goal of the coalition is to provide physicians and other health care professionals with effective and clinically relevant strategies to improve skills in diagnosing and managing patients with bipolar disorder.

Ten partners, working in cooperation with state-based professional societies, state departments of mental health, and community mental health centers are collaborating on this important initiative. This comprehensive approach to intervene and provide educational and systems-based solutions will allow The NOW Coalition to reach its ultimate goal of improving clinical outcomes within the target states of Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin, ultimately leading to improvements in both patient and community health within these regional settings.

The Now Coalition offers CME learning content and systems improvement tools within the following modules:

  • Screening and Diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder
  • Initiation of Treatment for Bipolar Disorder
  • Collaborative Care and Long Term Management
  • The NOW Coalition's PI-CME – this module will provide interventions and help identify practice changes to improve treatment outcomes for patients with bipolar disorder
